Serious Questions...

Last night I was driving home from my parent's house. Ryan was in his car since he came directly from work and I had both the kids in my car. I thought for sure that my kids would probably fall asleep but was I wrong!! Nathan decided that he would ask a few questions. So here is the conversation from last nights car ride home.

Nathan: Mommy where did you marry daddy?
Me: In Las Vegas at the Temple.
Nathan: Why did you marry daddy?
Me: Because I love him.
Nathan: Where was I when you married daddy?
Me: You were still up in heaven with Heavenly Father and Rylee.
Nathan: Mommy, who makes it dark at nighttime?
Me: Who? Heavenly Father makes it dark at nighttime.
Nathan: Why does he make it dark?
Me: He knows that we need to rest so he makes it dark so we can rest better.
Nathan: Who makes the sun come up?
Me: Heavenly Father makes the sun come up in the day.
Nathan: Where does Heavenly Father live?
Me: In heaven, and one day we will be able to live there with him again when we die if we are good. (oops opened a can of worms with this one!)
Nathan: What does die mean??
Me: It's when our spirit goes to heaven after our body here on earth is done.
(We got home and I got him out of the car)
Me: Go ask your dad some of these questions...
Nathan: Daddy, why did you marry mommy?
Ryan: Because she is pretty.
Nathan: Who makes the sun come up?
Ryan: Well, Heavenly Father does.
We went inside and he stopped asking questions.

I have to say how much I enjoyed answering his questions. He is so funny sometimes that he cracks me up! OH the things three year olds can ask!! I love my Natey!

Melon Days 2008

I know I have been slacking in the posting lately. So here is my blog about last weekend. We went to the annual Melon Days in Green River and it was a great weekend! My MIL Teri is in charge of the festival for Melon Days and as always she is a wonderful job! We attended the parade Saturday morning with the cousins even though you wouldn't know it by my pictures! haha Sorry I have been slacking in this area as well! I kept forgetting my camera and then I would take like one dumb picture! So here are the pictures I had on my camera from the great weekend. Ryan got to play some softball. They have a tournament each year and Ryan got on a team of guys from Green River with his brothers so he was pretty excited. Then after their team lost pretty bad Friday night they played again bright and early Saturday morning and Ryan decided he would swing the bat like he was 20 years old and what happened??? Yep he pulled a muscle in his back...nice right? Well then in the same game he slid into home plate got called out but he got a nice slide mark down his leg! Then if that wasn't enough he dove for a ball and got another scrape on his leg...needless to say he was done playing softball for the weekend and he laid on ice all night! Oh but fun times right?! Nathan really loved hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Parsons and his cousin Kylie! Rylee was all over the place so that was fun too! I enjoyed just relaxing under the canopy!

We really enjoyed being with ALL of Ryan's family! Those are my favorite times when the whole family is together and we just enjoy each others company! We can't wait for Thanksgiving to be with everyone again and maybe play some games??! Thanks for a fun family filled weekend!

Let me clarify...that is not Roxy behind Nathan! Roxy got to go stay with Nana, Papa and Bitsy for the weekend. There was two dogs behind us! Both brown, one miniature dachsund and one regular dachsund! My kids were so excited to see the dogs because they missed our Roxy girl!

Parade: Is that candy??? Yep, and she will try it even if it is all wrapped up still!

These are all of the cousins on the Parsons side of the family. Left to Right: Zachary, Kylie, Kinsey, Nathan holding Allie and Rylee. Rylee really liked to point at Allie's head for some reason. She is facsinated with babies!

Ryan decided to dress Roxy up after he got Rylee in her pajamas the other night...so Roxy tried on Rylee's shirt....Yes and Rylee loves her "doos" aka shoes. :)

Sea World

I have to say that I found so many little things interesting on this vacation like the trolley-like cars that move the median baricade on the bridge throughout the day and that like over HALF of Coronado island is all a Navy base.

Tuesday we got up and went to Sea World. I haven't been to Sea World in I don't even know how long! Ryan had never been to Sea World along with the kids! So instead of driving forever and a day to Disneyland we decided to go to Sea World. I have to say that I had a really fun day there! I enjoyed everything there was and there was much more than I expected! We went to the Shamu show (my favorite!) where we sat in the "soak zone", the dolphin show, the sea lion show, we rode Elmo and Oscar the Grouch rides in the Sesame Street area, we let the kids run around the water play area where they got soaked but it gave them their second wind to finish out the day, we saw the penguins which was Nathan's favorite by far, Ryan and my dad rode some ride that was the arctic ride and then we rode Atlantis which I LOVED and I could go on again and again; there was more but that was the jist of our day! So fun! Overall the day was so much fun for everybody! We went to the little shop before we left and Rylee was asleep after two minutes in there and Nathan fell asleep about 2 minutes after getting in the car! We definitely tuckered them out!

Wednesday we were getting ready to go to the beach and Nathan was waiting by the front door when it got a gust of wind and slammed shut on his thumb! Poor kid! It bled really good for about 2 days and his fingernail will probably fall off but it is getting better. After that happened, Ryan and my dad went to the beach to try out the boogie boards we bought. Nathan stayed home with me, Rylee and my mom and slept. That night we got to go to Petco Park and watch the Padres play the LA Dodgers. That was fun but would have been better if they would have been playing the Atlanta Braves! haha Just another ballpark off our long list of parks to visit!

Thursday was a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dad! Yep, September 11th just happens to be my dearest dad's birthday! We all went to the USS Midway aircraft carrier that you can tour. Pretty cool, but it gave me some serious claustraphobia after the smell of diesel fuel made me sick and then the little tight confined spaces. Good thing I never joined the Navy or anything like that! We went to dinner that night to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate his birthday but I think he thoroughly enjoyed the Midway because he LOVES that kind of stuff! He loved all the jets and helicopters! Nathan loved the helicopters and jets that he could get into! He played and played in the jet where he sat as the pilot and pushed buttons and he was very upset when he had to get out! He went back a couple of times though!
Friday morning Ryan and my dad went golfing again...this time instead of being gone 5 hours...they were gone 7 hours! My dad gave me a hard time because I was not happy that they were gone for so long and I got to take care of the kids! My mom and I took the kids into town and went to lunch and did some shopping in Coronado. Then when my dad and Ryan got back we left the kids with them and went back to Seaport Village for some more shopping...souvenir shopping! That night we did the Coronado thing since it was our last night there! We ate a little place called "Burger Lounge" and then we went and toured the Hotel Del Coronado which was beautiful! The elevator is an old style elevator and the lobby was incredible. Overall we had a really good time on our vacation! Thanks to my dad's cousin Hal for being so generous with his condo and letting us stay there! We loved every minute of it and can't wait to go back to that beautiful weather again!
Across the water is Coronado. This picture was taken from Petco Park on the way to our seats.

This is the Tomcat...the plane from Top Gun...maybe one of the reasons why my dad loves this kind of stuff...he loves that movie and quotes from it all the time!

Nathan's favorite airplane...he got to push buttons and steer it too. He told us he was going to "fly to the rescue!"

Family Vacation 2008: Coronado

This year we wanted to do something a little bit different for our family vacation. I believe it was 2 years ago...when Nathan was Rylee's age we took him and flew to the Oregon coast with my mom and dad and grandma Gloria. Since then I can't really think of where else we have gone for "vacation". So this year we planned on going to San Diego. Not really sure where we would stay...as a kid growing up I got to go to San Diego just about every year to a condo right on the beach! I have really great memories of going there every year! We would get up at like midnight or 1 am and drive through the night, stop in Vegas (obviously this was before we moved to Las Vegas) for breakfast (I could tell you where we would eat too!), then drive the rest of the way and get there around noon. We always would go certain places like Seaport Village and somewhere for kids like Sea World, Disneyland, the Zoo etc... The condo we used to stay in was kind of out of the question for various reasons so we (my mom/dad and our family) were trying to figure out what we could do. My dad made a call to one of his GENEROUS cousins who apparently has a condo in Coronado, California that he said we could use. How awesome is that?! So since then (springtime) we have been planning our vacation all out. Last week was our week in Coronado and I miss it!! I am ready to go back to that beautiful weather! I had never been to Coronado (that I could remember) and I really loved it there.

The Friday before we left and drove to Las Vegas...making a stop to drop Roxy off and a HUGE thanks to Ryan's parents who dog-sat for us! We stayed that night in Vegas and then got up and drove to Coronado. We got there in the afternoon and the first thing we did was put our swimsuits on and went right to the beach! The condo has a boat slip for the sail boat that he owns but we were not far from the beach either! We played in the water and built sandcastles! Rylee took a tumble in the water when she had no fear of it and then shivered cause she was soaked! Nathan didn't love the water but he LOVED the sand!

Sunday we went to church at the Imperial Beach ward which is just south of Coronado.

Monday we went to Seaport Village and did some shopping along with riding the carousel which went quite fast for a carousel I must say. Ryan and my dad golfed that afternoon in Coronado and my mom and I took the kids down to the beach again to play.

Here are the pictures of the first part of our vacation with more to come!

This is the Coronado bridge that connects downtown San Diego to Coronado...this was definitely one of Nathan's favorite parts was going on the bridge! He would ask everytime we were in the car if we could drive on the bridge.

Preschool

So this past Tuesday was Nathan's first day of Preschool. He woke up early that morning because he was so excited to go to Preschool! He kept asking every couple of minutes if it was time to go or not... Finally it was time to go and he had such a great time too! Afterwards I asked him how it was and he said "good". Then later on that night he told me he wanted to go back to Preschool. There are 7 boys from our ward that are in the preschool and we rotate it around so each mom does it every 7 weeks. So much fun for the boys to get to know the other kids in their nursery class! Here are some pictures of him before he went and also a picture of Rylee that was on my camera.

Friends!!

This past weekend we were able to go to Roosevelt, Utah and visit Ryan's brother, Kalen his wife Mandy and their baby Kinsey. It was Kalen's birthday today so most of Ryan's family went and we had a good time! Which I will post as soon as I can bum some pictures off of Mandy and Carrie (Ryan's sister). I was a slacker and forgot my camera! Sound familar??? Seriously sometimes I want to kick myself...one of those times I would like to 'kick myself' was today! We got a phone call this weekend from some of our friends from college: Lamar and Stef who now have two kids! We met up today for some yummy lunch at Cafe Rio down in Orem. We haven't seen them for 4 years!!! Wow, how time flies!! Last time we saw them they had a brand new baby who is 4 years old now and we had ZERO kids...that's strange to even think about! Now we each have 2 kids and we both have a boy and a girl and our girls are only a week apart. Kinda fun to see them and catch up! They lived for the past 4 years in Iowa so Lamar could go to Chiropractic school and now they have moved back out west...to Wyoming. Not as far as Iowa that's for sure! They are great friends and we missed them! Glad they are back closer and hopefully we will be able to get together more often!
Sorry about the ZERO pictures! Aghhhh...I would like to kick myself right now!
